Even if it was fully loaded that’s got to be only like $50 in pop.

![]() 10/30/2018 at 07:44 |

No, because a can of Coke costs $1 and a pack of smokes costs $972.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 07:45 |

And the last time you
did
see one, I bet the cost wasn’t $9 a pack, nor did it accept paper currency. But hey: people still
smoke
?

(just looked it up) The average price of a A pack of cigarettes in MD is over $7.50, so the $9 makes sense in a vending machine. Smokers gotta smoke.

The last one I frequented was in the mid-90s in Montgomery, AL, where smoking was a national pastime. It was in the entryway of a Denny’s and the goal was to feed it $2 in quarters before the waitresses kicked you out for being underage (It was 19 to buy, 16 to possess. We were 16, so technically breaking the law). Bowling alleys were another good source.
Our getaway car was an ‘86
Cressida just to keep things car-related. If it was wet, we would fishtail out of the lot without trying.
$2 was an upcharge because a C-store would sell them for $1.50 or so. I can’t believe anyone can afford to smoke anymore.

I graduated high school in ‘82. During my high school career, I could buy a pack of smokes and a pack of chewing gum with a George Washington and have a few cents left over.

In high school, the
rollies
we smoked cost way more than $9 for 50 grams, and that was 35 years ago.

guess smoking is pretty cheap here still... that said when i started about 20 years ago i paid less than half what i pay now per pack

I kind of want to get one of these for my pubroom, but I already caught my five year-old sneaking into my humidor to smell cigars.
